MARCIA AND MIRIAM ABOUT VOLUNTEERING

The other day we went to visit an old woman called Catalina, who is 83 years old. We were offered to help her to do the houseworks, so we were washing the dishes and tidying the kitchen up. After that she introduce us to her birds and she taugh us to feed them. We had a nice afternoon than finished with an interesting Parchis round.

DIEGO ABOUT VOLUNTEERING

The last day I visited this old woman she told me an experience she had when she was 15 years old. She told me that she was shopping in a market when her skirt was hitched to a post tearing completely. It made her so embarrased that she had to use a bag in order to avoid that people realised about it. That day we were laughing about it but she assured me that she had a bad shot. After that she invited me to have dinner what made that day very amazing due to the fact that the food was delicious.

Spring with Volunteering

“ Life is not only to take....”

It is nice to be useful, it is great to help people in need... . I was so proud I was able to take part in the succeeding edition of spectacular action: “ The Fields of Happiness”.Not a big afford and so much help!

In a good company, together with the members of Comenius group, from the early morning 29 March 2015 we collected money for ill elderly people. Each donor received in return for his heart adaffodil, the flower done by students on art lessons.

People willingly supported this action and with a smile put money into a special cans.

Sometimes it is worth to be interested in the topic of death, which is taboo in our homes, familiarizing young people with the subject of hospice, with the accompaniment of elderly people, grandparents, parents in the last moments of their lives, said Krzysztof Smerecki- coordinator of the action.

We feel that we have achieved something valuable, with a little effort, in a good company (even a friendly dog willingly joined us), in the spring sunshine, we proudly asked for money and... townsfolks , as always, did not disappoint our trust.

VISIT IN NURSING HOME

                In January we went to the Nursing Home in our town to show eldery people the nativity play prepared by our students. The group of volunteers put to the audience Polish Christmas Customs and Polish Carols, they compared past and present and showed the influence which old customs have on our present life. After our performance the habitants of Nursing Home- old, ill and, sometimes, lonely people, were really touched and happy that there are people who take care of their life, their loneliness and yearning. At the end we had lunch together. 

RAISING MONEY FOR THE NEEDY

According to the agreement we keep continuing our work in volunteering. In January the members of Comenius group took part in a very noble action, which was concentrated on helping children and elderly people in need. The topic of the action was to take care of ill people: (pediatrics, cardiac surgery, oncology). The way of doing it was very different: from music concerts, orchestra on the ice to the marathon against diabetes. Volunteers collected a big amount of money in order to help ill children and their grandparents. This kind of action is an example of international phenomenon : nobody is as good at doing it as Polish people are!

FIELDS OF HAPPINESS

In October 2014 volunteers from MZS nr5 in Krosno, including the members of Comenius group, participated in opening a wonderful action "Fields of Happiness" (the seventh edition). Our volunteers accompanied by Iwona Majko-Bogacz attended the Mass in Hospice, celebrated by pr. M. Zarzyczny. Their work during the last year has not only spiritual but also material value (about 100 000zl which were passed on old people needs). Our students are going to take part in the next Spring Collection. This kind of activity helps our pupils to understand of pluralism and awereness of coexistence, eliminate prejudice and reduce "generation gap". With this kind of effort they can help to feel old people happier and more useful. Congratulations to all our students on their commintment and dedication.

Selfies and sayings

As part of our project the students taught seniors what a selfie is and how to make one. In response the seniors told the students a proverb or saying. The students presented their work in class by showing the selfie and saying in a PowerPoint presentation.
